Story, Folklore, History

Dulce de leche is a beloved sweet treat that has been enjoyed for centuries. Although it's origins are not certain, there is an interesting story behind its discovery! During the Argentine War of 1829, both sides reached out in search of peace and negotiated with one another - General Manuel de Rosas had agreed to meet his counterpart from the opposing forces at his tent. However when General Lavalle arrived he found no-one home so decided to take a nap instead. While this was occurring, nearby a woman was preparing "la lechada", which consists of sugary milk mixed together over heat; but upon seeing her enemy she became afraid thinking they'd be discovered and ran off hastily without realizing what effect this would have on la lechada left cooking... After some time passed by Genreal De Rosa returned just as soldiers were about ready to enter guessing who may have invaded their territory only throwing away suspicion once discovering him asleep peacefully within the premises; meanwhile back in kitchen where la letchde simmered unintentionally due to all commotion – transforming it into thick dark brown substance now known fondly today as dulce de leche!
